Gregory Crewdson. I actually had the pleasure of meeting him my sophomore year of college at KCAI. He works only in large format cameras (16x20 and up) and actually has an entire town in Pennsylvannia that allows him to shoot at will. Most of his work is edited in post from several transparencies, however I hardly think that matters when you see what he achieves Though he has the appearance of Danny DeVito as ‘The Penguin,’ he is a vastly intelligent man, and gave me one of my favorite artist quotes of all time: “I’m just an artist, think for yourself.”

It’s not difficult to imagine a few years from now a political landscape controlled by a Democratic dynasty, where the only Republicans left in office come from states and districts where the small minority of folks who voted for them share their ignorant, intolerant 1950’s ideals.
